1. Shiites Leader El-Zakzaky, Wife Depart Nigeria

Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, Sheikh Ibrahim Elzakzaky and his wife have finally traveled out of Nigeria. They left Abuja to India for medical treatment at about 6:30 pm Nigerian time on Monday. He flew out in a commercial airliner, Emirates. The Shiites leader and Zeenat were moved from Kaduna to Abuja on Sunday. They had been in government detention since 2016. Apart from security personnel who accompanied the Sheikh, family members were also on the trip.

2.Father Mbaka Speaks On ‘God’s Anger’ Against Pres. Buhari

The Spiritual Leader of Adoration Ministry Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka yesterday denied saying that God is angry with President Muhammadu Buhari. There was a viral social media report that he (Mbaka) prophesied doom in Aso Rock on October 1st. The cleric made the denial in a statement made available to pressmen on Monday, describing it as the handiwork of his enemies.

3.Taraba Killings: Army Issues Fresh Directives To Officers

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Monday, ordered travelling officers and men to wear plain clothes [mufti] while travelling across Nigeria. This is as Buratai accused the Force Headquarters of making “inciting and inflammatory comments” following soldiers’ killing of three policemen and a civilian in Taraba after they had effected the arrest of a notorious kidnap kingpin, Alhaji Hamisu Bala Wadume, who is now on the run. Buratai’s order which leaked to the media on Monday was contained in a circular with reference number: AHQDAIOPS/G3/240/232, and copied to Army formations nationwide.

4.Presidency Reveals What Buhari Is Doing About Soldiers/Police Clash

Nigeria’s presidency on Monday declared that President Muhammadu Buhari will act on the killing of police officers by soldiers after the panel set up by Chief of Defence Chief, General Gabriel Olonisakin, submits its report. Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, said this in a statement on Tuesday.

5. We Did Not Arrest Bobrisky – Army

The Nigerian Army on Monday denied reports that its soldiers arrested a notorious criminal popularly known as Bobrisky in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State. The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike had earlier thanked the army for arresting one of River’s notorious criminal, Bobrisky. But in a reaction to Leadership in Portharcourt, the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Division, Colonel Aminu Illiyasu, denied the claims, saying that the army did not arrest Bobrisky or any other criminal in Gokana local government area as claimed.

6.Buhari Drops Ita Enang As National Assembly Aide

Reports emerged on Monday that President Muhammadu Buhari has dropped Ita Enang as his Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters (Senate). Enang is former senator from Akwa Ibom state. Reports suggest that Buhari has picked Omoworare Babajide, a former senator from Osun state as replacement. Enang allegedly did not perform well in managing the relationship between Buhari and senators in the eighth Senate.

7. The Special Presidential Panel on Recovery of Public property, SPIP, yesterday denied the alleged sealing off of its office by the Nigeria Police Force. The Chairman of the panel, Mr Okoi Obono-Obla, refuted the claims in a statement in Abuja on Monday. Reports emerged earlier that operatives of the Nigerian Police sealed the office of one of President Muhammadu Buhari’s aides and chairman, Special Presidential Investigation Panel on the Recovery of Public Property, Barrister Okoi Obono-Obla. The panel’s office at No. 2802 Idris Kutigi Street, Asokoro Extension, Abuja, was at the weekend allegedly sealed off by police operatives.

8. Former governor of old Kaduna State and immediate past national chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, Alhaji Balarebe Musa has opined that the coming on board of former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Attairu Jega into the party is a welcomed development. The elder statesman who is now the chairman of the board of trustee of the party, however, said the party must view his coming into the party with care and caution. Musa said his position was premised on the fact that it was under the Chairmanship of the former INEC boss that the party was deregistered before it was re-registered on court orders.

9. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors yesterday called on the Federal Government to prosecute soldiers who killed three policemen and two civilians in Taraba and Abia States. PDP Governors’ Forum, in a statement on Monday by its Chairman, Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, also called for adequate compensation of the families of victims. A statement Dickson signed on Monday, said senseless killings “have in recent times, taken another gruesome dimension,” noting that this was not only wicked and malicious but unprofessional and cowardly.

10. The Governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, on Monday said he and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, have met to resolve the issues between them. Obaseki stated this at St Paul Catholic Church, Benin, during a mass organised to mark the 80th birthday of former APC national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, on Monday.
